When temperamental novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife Leonora calls in private detective Cormoran Strike to bring him home.
When temperamental novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife Leonora calls in private detective Cormoran Strike to bring him home.
But as Strike and assistant Robin Ellacott investigate, it soon becomes clear that there is more to Quine’s disappearance than his wife realises. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows; and has made enemies of many in the publishing world.
As Quine is found brutally murdered in bizarre circumstances, mirroring the description in his own unpublished book, it becomes a race against time for Robin and Strike to narrow down the many potential suspects – and hone in on a ruthless killer.
Starring Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger alongside an all star cast. Written by Tom Edge and directed by Kieron Hawkes, the two episodes of ‘The Silkworm’ aired on BBC1 in Autumn 2017.
Reviews
-
"…one major advantage that sets “C.B. Strike” apart from other shows of its ilk is the way that it rewards more conventional groundwork."
Indiewire
-
"There are aspects of the traditional English crime novel…the orderly interviewing of witnesses; the closed world of the suspects; the gathering together of the cast of characters so the detective can unmask the killer."
