From cults to Strike’s childhood, listen to Robert expand on his vision when writing The Running Grave.

I foreshadowed this particular plot since 2010 when I wrote the first Strike novel. The cult that appears in this book was once a commune. A commune at which some very dark things happened as we find out in this book. And it’s somewhere that Strike, the detective, spent six months as a child. And he’s always thought of those six months as the worst part of this childhood. So I always knew that one day, we would go back to this place that Strike remembers, this farm. And something very dark would have taken the place of the commune where he spent six months as a child.
