So, at the end of The Cuckoo’s Calling, Robin is no longer a temporary secretary, she is now full-time secretary, so in a sense she’s kind of got a slight promotion. In the The Silkworm it becomes her journey into proving that she is more than just a secretary, and it’s not about that she doesn’t want this job, you know, she’s not just ‘vaguely interested’ and just wants to do the filing and the the typing, you know, she wants to be on the ground using her skills, and she’s smart she and she’s intuitive and she wants to put those skills into practice. She wants to be a detective and so it’s that kind of journey that she goes on during The Silkworm. Realising that this is what she wants and has to be able to see the story, she can’t just be sat a desk.
